drift is designed to get you off your phone, not to collect your data. this policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can delete it.

what we collect

when you create an account, we store:

• your city and coordinates (to generate location-aware missions)
• your timezone (to know when your day starts)
• your preferences (comfort level, notification time, indoor-only mode)
• an optional display name

as you use the app, we store:

• your mission history (what was generated, accepted, completed, or skipped)
• your drift map (coordinates of completed missions)
• your streak and stats (total drifts, distance walked)
• photos and captions you choose to post to the community stream
• subscription status and billing events from apple

what we do not collect

• your email address
• your contacts, camera roll, or browsing history
• continuous location tracking. we only use your location when generating a mission or completing one.
• advertising identifiers. we do not run ads.

third-party services

we use the following types of services to operate drift:

• authentication and storage for account management and storing your data securely
• weather data your city coordinates are sent to a weather provider to generate location-aware missions
• ai generation your city name, weather, time of day, and comfort level are sent to an ai provider to generate missions. no personal identifiers are sent.
• image moderation photos posted to the community stream are checked for safety using automated detection. only premium users who post photos trigger this.
• apple handles subscription billing. we receive transaction events from apple to update your subscription status.

community stream

when you complete a mission, a stream entry is created with your mission text, category, city name, and optional caption and photo. this is visible to all authenticated users. your stream entries do not display your name or account information.

data retention

your data is stored as long as your account exists. weather data is cached for 30 minutes and is not linked to your account.

deleting your data

you can delete your account from within the app. this permanently removes:

• your profile and all settings
• all missions, drift map entries, and stats
• all stream posts and photos
• subscription event history
• your firebase authentication account

deletion is immediate and irreversible.

children

drift is not intended for children under 13. we do not knowingly collect data from children.

changes

if we update this policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
